My Top 10 Christmas Films

I love a good Christmas film and I've already watched quite a few - even the new one on Netflix. It's just something you have to do around Christmas and they always have a great story which involves someone learning something about themselves or other people. Normally selflessness, belief or the true meaning of Christmas. I love that and today I want to share my top 10 favourites (in no particular order). Don't forget to tell me what yours are!

  • Elf - I always watch this film with John. I love Will Ferrell as Buddy and it's such a fantastic story! It's funny, it's silly and Zooey Deschanel singing Baby It's Cold Outside is one of my favourite parts, simply because it's probably my favourite Christmas song. This film really brings out the kid in me!
  • It's A Wonderful Life - A classic Christmas film since 1946 but one I only began to watch a couple of years ago! I love the story line and it really makes you appreciate the people around you. It's definitely one to watch and a good one for a quiet Christmas Eve.
  • Love Actually - For those into rom-coms! I love this one and it's one you could watch all year round. I love that there are a few love stories with multiple links to the other characters and I love that there is heartbreak, chasing after, crossing countries and also my favourite Portuguese patisserie in London appears for a few seconds of the film. A fact I only learnt a couple of weeks ago.
  • Miracle on 34th Street - It's one I often forget about and the one I've watched most recently because it's on Netflix. I like the 1994 version with Mara Wilson. I love that it's a twist on the belief of Santa Claus and the magic of Christmas and though it is about Santa Claus, one I feel is more suitable for adults rather than children!
  • Jingle All The Way - This film is too funny! Arnold Schwarzenegger as a parent running around for the toy his kid is dreaming of for Christmas. I love the craziness, it's a bit like Elf but more about the craziness of toy trends at Christmas!
  • How The Grinch Stole Christmas - I feel like this is a love or hate film but it's definitely in my love list. It's truly one of the ones I don't watch every year but enjoy when I do. What I love about it is the moral of the story and that you end up loving The Grinch.
  •  A Christmas Carol - Based on the book by Charles Dickens, this ones a classic that has been reinvented so many times. I'm still yet to watch Jim Carrey's version but I like the 1938 version. It's such a classic story and even if you're not into black and white films, one you'll definitely enjoy for the story. Another one about morals, selflessness and giving.
  • The Snowman - A short film but one that I love to watch. I love the music, how it's illustrated and the fact that there are no words... it's just one of those ones you have to watch. A bit like Wall-e.
  • The Santa Clause - This one is pretty funny too! I really love the imagination behind this story like and that there are sequels to it too! But the first one is by far the best.
  • Home Alone - I tried to steer clear from putting this in my top 10 Christmas films but it kept popping in my head when I was writing this up. It's a classic film full of crazy fun had by a boy accidentally left alone. If you haven't watched it yet, you're seriously missing out!

So those are my top 10 Christmas films. I've already watched half of these but I have a while to go to watch the other ones too. Are there any that aren't the list that you like? Let me know what they are in the comments below!
