New In | Monochrome Midi Dresses

Midi styles are my thing right now. I love them. All of them. My thing used to be high waisted skirts, trousers and shorts but right now, the pieces I love most are midi skirts, dresses or culottes. Though I'm a short gal, I've got ridiculously long legs (and arms) and a tiny torso and so midi styles work for me. 

A few weeks back, whilst browsing the New Look website, I ended up buying the most gorgeous spotted smock midi dress in my haul and absolutely fell in love with it. I wear it all the time and I can't get over how pretty it looks on.

Being a predominantly white dress, I'm gutted I can't wear it to work at the moment in fear that grass and poster paints will stain it but I've worn it almost every weekend since buying it. The style is perfect for a casual work outfit, especially in this type of weather we've been having.

Just FYI, personally, I think this dress works best with a belt. Without one, I look a little too 'Little House on the Prarie' or 'ready-for-bed' but a belt changes EVERYTHING. It gives it a little edge and with the right belt details, perfectly on-trend.

So after buying the white dress, I ended up back on the New Look website a month later oogling this dress which I've had my eye on for months, to be honest.

Pockets? Midi lengths? Polka dots? Check, check, check! This dress ticked all my 'perfect dress' boxes and actually reminds me of a yellow dress I used to have when I was younger that I was completely obsessed with.

Trying this on for the first time made me so happy too. I thought it looked perfect and so versatile. It's great on it's own and looks just as pretty with a tee underneath for a look that's suitable for work.

Last but not least is the dress, not just one, but two of my friends own. We all work in the same place too so we have to be careful that we don't all wear it on the same day!

This black dress is just like the white one in sleeve style but I like that this one comes with it's own belt and has a split up the side instead of the smock style layers. It's a slightly different variation of the white spot dress so I knew it would look good.

You may have also noticed, I've been wearing the same octagonal necklace in all the outfits too. It's my new necklace from Estee Lalonde's new collection with Daisy London. It represents empowerment, motivation and inspiration. Three things I strive for and need in my life.
