Life Through Instagram | August

With the whole month off, I thought August was going to be pretty uneventful and a boring month. Lo and behold that wasn't the case at all for at least the last two weeks, which were pretty jam packed. My month's been filled with friends, sunshine, paper (odd one I know) and some of the laziest days I've ever had.

For the first two weeks of August my parents had closed up our family business and gone on holiday to Orlando, Disney. I was completely jealous but with no funds, I planned not to go. Instead, I spent two weeks being the laziest I think I've ever been in my life. I watched so many films: The whole Harry Potter collection, Moana (twice), Pretty Woman, The Lion King, White Chicks, Ghostbusters (2016), Suicide Squad, Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates, Ali G In Da House, Bridget Jones's Baby and A Street Cat Named Bob. Well, those are the ones I remember at least and that's a whole chunk of films already.

I was able to watch most of these because I'd been nurse to my Dolly dog for the second week after she'd had been spayed and had a deep dental cleaning. I had to be by her side 24/7 for the next two weeks to make sure she was staying calm, relaxed and wasn't doing anything to hurt herself. It's tricky when you have a small excitable dog who likes to jump on everything. But it was lovely human-dog bonding time and I thoroughly enjoyed being with her, especially as she was my only company for most of the day.

John had the first week of August off too so it was really lovely to spend some quality at-home time with him. We made dinners and relaxed a lot rather than trying to fill up our time with things to do. We enjoyed just being in each other's company which was perfect in itself. We really appreciate the time we get together since we don't live together yet, so this was a perfect week to spend some time doing normal things without other people around.

I also spent some time working on my bullet journal and even managed to sneak a visit to Waterstone's where I bought some new books to add to my collection. I've started reading again and I've been loving it. I've just finished Silver Linings by Debbie Macomber and just started The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. I'm determined to read it before I watch the film!

Over the last two weeks of my month everyone returned from holiday. Not only were my family back, but my best friend and her two lovely sisters were back too. I met up with them quite a few times over the last couple of weeks and I've loved having friends to hang out with and see more often than usual. Because we're both in the same line of work it's easy for us to coordinate girly dates and we both had all of August off! We went shopping, had sleep overs, BBQs and just chilled out with each other. It's not something we do often so we really enjoyed our time bonding and building our friendship! I even inspired her to start a bullet journal after she inspired me to read again. I think we're good influences on each other tbh.

I'll be glad to go back to work though! I've become so out of routine I need to get back in it and I don't suit being off for too long. I've been so inspired to do so many things including keeping a healthy balance of all the things I want to do. I feel like I've got a hold on a good social life, a steady fitness regime, giving myself equal time to watch films, read, draw and be offline as well as maintaining my blog and working on it and my social channels. It's been a really good month for opening my mind up and starting up a fresh. I've learnt things about myself, I've focused on my mental health and feel reset. I've generally become a happier person and I just want to continue to maintain it now!

It's been a lengthy one people, but I hope you've enjoyed reading all about my month. I think I found my heart in blogging again. I hope you enjoy the future posts to come. I'm inspired again

How has August been for you?
