A H&M Haul

The other day, a trip to Tesco for some cotton pads, a white Twix and newspapers (to pack up kitchenware) turned into a trip to H&M for a quick last-minute holiday clothes shop.

I'm always drawn to H&M at this time of year because I absolutely love their summer clothing. They're also such an affordable brand which is why they're in my post about my top 5 affordable high street fashion brands.

I found some really lovely things and I thought it'd be nice to share a quick haul of what I got!

Smocked Tops

In H&M, I came across these smocked tops and they had them in black, white and beige for £9.99. I was instantly drawn towards the white one and on top of that, I love the shirred/smocked detail because I think it looks really flattering.

I've not worn one of these spaghetti strap square necklines for a long time but something told me to try it because I might like it. I was looking for something like this for our week away and thought this would look cute with jeans or a nice pair of high waist shorts.

This top did not disappoint! It was flattering on, it fit perfectly and long enough to tuck into jeans and shorts. I was so gutted that I didn't get it in any other colour, that I went back the very next day and got the other in beige because I needed to return some items anyway.

Basic Black Vest Top

Nothing beats a basic vest and I love getting a new one. The ones in H&M are so soft and comfortable. I've had them before but I wanted to replace a black one I'd just got rid of and bought a new one. I think I need a few more of these... especially at £3.99!

Pinstripe High-waist Shorts

The next thing I picked up was some shorts that were in the sale for just £8. I found them in my size and when I tried them on at home, they were the perfect length and fit comfortably. I don't like shorts that are too short anymore so I'm always looking for shorts that are more conservative but still stylish.

These are perfect for my holiday to Norfolk since we'll be spending a lot of time by the sea and on the beach so I'm really glad I found them.

Ribbed Cardigan

The next thing I picked up was this cute ribbed cardigan which will become a solid staple in my wardrobe! For £9.99, I wish I could find the other colours but I might just have to buy them online. The lace-up front is perfect for this season's trends but I also think it'll look gorgeous whenever thanks to its simplicity!

Straw Hat

Hats aren't normally something I buy but I really wanted a pretty hat to take on holiday with me. I was actually in the queue, ready to pay when I spotted this hat on the back wall. I left the queue to get it and for £9.99, I'm so glad I did. It's such a simple but beautiful hat and I can't wait to style it with a pretty dress or a cute beachy outfit when I'm away!

Shell Necklace

Another impulse purchase near the till was the shell necklace. I thought it would be so cute for holiday with a simple white tee for some detail. It was £6.99 but I just couldn't pass it up.

Straight High Ankle Jeans

I have not owned a pair of jeans that aren't skinny since I was about 14. I used to wear bootleg jeans or flared jeans at one point but after seeing so many people rock the straight leg look, I really wanted to try it out for myself. I picked up these light straight leg jeans and now I'm obsessed with the comfortable feel and easy-to-wear vibes they're giving me. I've already worn these with a nice top tucked in or a simple tee and I just can't get enough. I'm a little gutted that they're now £7 though when I paid £17.99!

Super Skinny High Jeans

Another thing I haven't owned but only since I started working in education, is a pair of ripped jeans. There was a point where I couldn't stand them anymore but I saw these and I really wanted to try them out. They didn't look 'overly ripped' if you know what I mean and I loved them in this light wash denim colour. At £14.99, I thought why not and they fit like a dream! They're super comfortable and I can't wait to style it with a slogan tee for an effortless but cool-ish style.

I haven't done such a big haul in a while and all from one place but I really wanted to get some new bits that would become new staples in my wardrobe. My favourites are definitely the hat and the smocked tops but I love the jeans and cardigan for all-year-round too.
What are your favourites from the haul and what have you bought recently?
