A Christmas Tag 2018

So it's come to about 10:30pm and I realised I hadn't even thought about writing today's blog post! I've been so occupied playing with Cracker that I completely forgot. I spent my evening spot cleaning his cage and redoing his layout and then watching him run around in his hamster ball for the first time. I never thought I'd be so excited, happy, entertained and have so much love for such a tiny little being! Right now, he's next to me running in his wheel and climbing up the bars to check I'm watching him.

Anyway. Because I'm not doing the whole scheduled posts and pre-planning at the moment (no time), I'm writing my blog posts on the day. It'd be too late to put something together now but luckily I have a couple of posts up my sleeve for times like this. Who remembers the good old blogger tags? Where you'd answer a bunch of set questions like a Q&A just for the fun of it. I loved those and so, today I'm doing one. I found this one on Makeup Savvy's blog from 2014 (the good old days)! I hope you enjoy it and feel free to take the questions from the tag and answer them yourself. I'm going to do like Fee from Makeup Savvy did and pop the questions to copy and paste at the bottom of the post.

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
My all-time favourite movie is Elf. I know it's pretty cliche but I really enjoy it. I also just watched The Christmas Chronicles on Netflix which I thought was pretty good too! I'd definitely recommend watching that. And if you like films like Parent Trap, The Christmas Princess is a good Christmas version of that. It reminds me of The Christmas Prince though in terms of the story line. Another two Netflix ones to watch. Can you tell I've been watching all the Christmas films on Netflix yet?
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
When I was younger, we used to do it the Portuguese way and open them at midnight. The way it went was Santa came at midnight and we'd have to hide and pretend we were sleeping. Then when Santa left, we'd come out and open presents. As my brother and I got older, we ended up starting to celebrate it the British way and open them up on Christmas morning. To be honest, I prefer it that way too. The day feels a lot more special when you open them up on Christmas morning.
3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
I don't have a specific memory but more like favourite moments. There's so many Christmases to think about and actually I think I enjoy those moments where everyone is sat around the dinner table eating and just thinking about how nice it is to sit around the table together having food and being happy. I love that moment, every Christmas, most of all.
4. Favourite festive food?
Oooooh. Stuffing. Loads of it. I absolutely adore stuffing and I also love my mum's crunchy roast potatoes and parsnips. But I think most of all, I adore a warm turkey roll with stuffing and cranberry sauce. The first time I had it was at Winter Wonderland with John and honestly, it's the nicest thing ever. The most amazing sandwich I've ever had. I also really love mince pies and probably have had a couple too many this year already!
5. Favourite Christmas gift?
For me it's hard to distinguish my Christmas gifts from my birthday gifts simply because they are five days apart. I remember as a child getting my keyboard (which I still have) and thinking about how amazing that was. I also remember getting my plastic kitchen which I used all the time. I also really loved my post office play set. I talk about that one to this day! I don't think I've ever had a 'omg this is the best present ever' moment but I'd say I've loved them all because at that moment, it was the greatest gift ever. When I was 21 my parents bought me my Peugeot 206 and that was an amazing moment.  And I think my favourite gift (apart from Cracker) that John gave me was a penguin adoption and I also really love my Thomas Sabo bracelet because it's so sentimental.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Definitely cinnamon and gingerbread! They're the best and warmest of all the Christmas scents. I need to get a gingerbread and/or cinnamon candle for the house actually.
7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
My family and I used to get a Chinese every Christmas Eve because we used to work all night at the chip shop together and walk down the road to get our food before we all closed up for the night. Now that I've moved out I'll probably have a new tradition to build but I don't know what that is yet. I'm excited to find out though.
8. What tops your tree?
A star! Always. The one we have now is red, but I think next year I'll get a silver one after seeing my mum's amazing one.
9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
BABY BORN! The amount of times I asked my mum for one and I'm still sad about it. I don't know what it was about a baby that could eat and poop that was so special but I really wanted it. I think I probably felt that I was the only girl in my whole class who didn't have one. Still gutted! (LOL)
10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
It's being with my family. I think it'll be even more important for me this year as my first year away from home in my own home. On Christmas Day John and I will be going to our own family homes for Christmas dinner and gift exchanged and then on Boxing Day both John and I are going back to my parents to have a big boxing day dinner. I'm really excited about it and I think it's going to be a lovely Christmas!
