What Cat Wore | Christmas Party

Christmas parties are in full swing now, and all the beautiful Christmassy party outfits are out to play. This week it was my work's Christmas party and I had a brilliant time. Christmas parties are a fantastic way to celebrate the holidays with colleagues and round up the past year before starting afresh in January. For my go-to Christmas party outfit, I usually always go for a dress. I like going for glitz, bold colours and waist accentuating silhouettes. This year I've got something a bit different to what I usually go for from Cari's Closet.

This year I have this Taylor Long Lace Sleeve Mini Dress in Black. I've never had a lace dress like this before but when I saw this particular dress, I was so drawn to it that I had to get it. The dress has this beautiful lace design throughout and lace cutouts in all the right places. It's quite fitted and has a 3 tiered skirt... something I wasn't sure about at first, but really like about it now. The second tier I feel sits in a weird place for me, but it doesn't bother me enough to put me off the dress entirely. I probably could have done with a size smaller but if I did that, I would have risked it being too tight. The size I did get fits nicely without any tightness so it's comfortable and makes me feel confident in it.

I decided to style this up with my black laser cut heels I got from a previous collaboration. I tried to link back to it but it seems the website and the brand doesn't exist anymore which is a real shame, especially since these are one of my favourite pair of heels. To keep a monochrome feel to it but also add some contrast, I took my go-to white j'adore clutch bag with me. I think next time I would style it up with some brighter shoes to make it more 'me'. Maybe my hot pink court shoes (though I haven't worn them for years)!

I really do love this dress. It fits so nicely and I love the high collar, the tiers and the lace. It's a different to what I normally go for but now because I know what lace looks like on me, I would probably look at getting another lace dress in the future. It's always good to try something new. You never know if you're going to like it or not!

For a Christmas Party, I think this is a pretty great dress that is versatile and would work for most parties. It's a smart and sophisticated piece that would suit anything from big organised parties, a club or even some drinks down the pub. I plan on wearing this again, maybe Boxing Day but I'm not sure yet.
Cari's Closet have some other amazing dresses too that I'm keeping my eye on. Now that I've experienced the quality of their dresses, I'm keen to get another. I'm all for this Hannah Lace Sleeve Mini Dress in Red and I also love their Lauren Faux Fur Gilet in Grey - two beautiful pieces I'm seriously thinking about investing in.

Have you had a Christmas party yet? And what's your go-to Christmas party outfit?
