6 Years of What Cat Says

Today I am celebrating 6 years of What Cat Says. I never thought that I would be here celebrating this milestone and enjoying each year of blogging even more than the last! I thought about this blog post for a while and what I could do to mark the 6 years. I had so many ideas, but I couldn't think of anything better than my old-school 'talky' type posts where I just ramble with little editing about whatever it is I'll be talking about along with a few thank yous and stories about what I've done and learnt over the last 6 years. I hope you click the 'read more' button to talk with me.

So I could easily start with a history of my blog, but that would be all to easy to talk about and frankly, a little boring. I don't ever want my blog to be defined by it's past alone, but actually by how we've improved together. I started What Cat Says to have a place where I could vent thoughts and feelings and share art, but now it's a place for positivity, happiness and sharing.

I am 1000 times happier than I was when I first began my blog back in 2010. I wasn't a very happy lady in my early twenties, but since then I've greatly improved myself in all aspects of life. My career is taking off, my relationship with John is beautiful and though I'm about to head into a tough year I am excited about it! Along side that I've taken on a healthier lifestyle to improve my self confidence and I'm generally a more organised and motivated person with everything.

That effort doesn't stop with my everyday life. Just over the past year I have made what feels like a huge improvement here on What Cat Says. Not only has my blog received a fresh new look in the last 6 months, but I have given my best effort to improve my content, photography and also keep my blog's originality and integrity! Everything I blog is because I want to and because it reflects me and my interests, and I hope it is obvious and my personality shines through in my posts.

In 6 years of blogging I've done and learnt so many things! I've learnt about all the different things that make a blog, I learnt about how to take photographs for my blog and all those little background things like SEO and social media involvement. And though I have learnt a lot, I still feel like I have a lot more to learn. The learning journey is never over!
On top of the things I've learnt, I've attended lots of events, met so many blogger friends, been to meet ups and received wonderful opportunities to collaborate with brands in lots of different ways. I appreciate each and every opportunity I've had and I hope that the brands and people I've collaborated with know that. I'm also so happy to have met so many wonderful bloggers and made friends with them over the years! I couldn't be happier to be friends with a lovely bunch of people. You know who you are ♥ This brings me onto the community...

The community of bloggers we have right now is amazing. Though I have seen a little negativity recently, it is completely over shadowed by the positivity we see everyday. I've seen bloggers support each other in so many different ways and I've seen so many great hashtags, groups and friendships built via the blogging community! Take #thegirlgang for example. It flourished ever so quickly, because there are so many amazing bloggers who want to support and love each other! I am proud to be part of some of these groups and the big one that is the blogosphere.

To anyone and everyone who has ever taken the time to visit my blog and read it. I just want to say a big Thank You! If it wasn't for you guys I think at some points I could have quit. Having such a lovely group of readers is inspiring, and you are my inspiration at times! Though I always say that I blog for myself, it is lovely to have an audience who do read my blog and support me in even the smallest way possible. It is lovely to see comments pop up on posts and people following me when they do. It is a motivator to know that you are there and reading - I love you all for that.

And I'd like to thank one other person who might not read this. But if he does: Thank you John. He didn't always understand why I blogged but once he got to know about it and why I did it, he became so supportive of me and actually I don't think I thank him enough for that. He bought me my camera, because he knows how much I love photography and taking good quality pictures, and also a tripod when my old one broke. He gives me ideas when I ask for his help and offers up a little of our time together if I need a quiet space or just some time to write a post. He's wonderfully supportive and I thank him so much for that. It's hard being a bloggers boyfriend sometimes! :P

This post is really long now (and a bit everywhere) but I did say I was going to leave it somewhat uncut, so I think I'll leave it there. I'm so happy to be celebrating 6 happy blogging years, and I hope that it doesn't stop there. I may not be the likes of Zoella, Lily Melrose or In The Frow, but I am so happy where I am right now and I couldn't wish for more right now!

I hope you all have a wonderful Bank Holiday Weekend...
And here's to beginning a 7th year in blogging!
