My Valentine's Make Up Look

Now, I'm not a Valentine's Day kinda gal but I do love all the pink, red and florals that prop up everywhere early February. I don't think I've ever done a Valentine's day related post before, but this year I really wanted to do one, and I came up with the loveliest pinky make up look I just had to show you! It's pretty simple, but I think it's pretty beautiful too. I've fallen back in love with some beauty products creating this look and I get to tell you about them and a couple of new loves too so let's get right into it!

This look was inspired by my Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette. I was looking at doing a pink/purple smoky eye the other day and thought it would make the perfect subtle yet colourful Valentine's Day make up look. I feel most Valentine's Day make up looks would probably steer towards a red lip and a dramatic yet sexy cat eye too, but I wanted to do something a little different. And I hope it still is!

After prepping my face with my Nivea Express Hydration Primer, I applied my current favourite foundation by Bourjois. The Air Mat Foundation provides a great high coverage leaving a beautiful and flawless matte finish. And I don't think you need any setting powders with this foundation either.

I filled in my brows with my trusty and loved Sleek eyebrow palette and primed my eyes with the Rimmel Exaggerate Undercover Eyeshadow Primer before starting my pink smoky eye with the Vice 4 palette. I started with Discreet, a nude/pink as the base colour on my lids and slowly built up Fast-Ball, a beautiful baby pink shade around the crease and towards the centre of my lids. When I was happy with the colour I applied and blended out 1985, a gorgeous dark pink/purple colour out from the crease and also lined it below my lower lashes to carry that colour through around the eyes. If I'm being honest I really miss my Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer because that would have helped this make up look pop and appear so much more vibrant, but it works okay with this primer I'm trying. Better than no primer at all right?
I finished off my eyes with the Maybelline Line Refine for a simple cat eye flick, and the Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara which I'm absolutely in love with! It works like a dream adding volume, length and a beautiful deep black coating over all my lashes! ♥

I wanted to keep this looking quite fresh even with the pink smoky eye, so I skipped contour and highlight completely. But I think this look would work just as great with some super defined cheek bones using a light bronzer and highlighter. I just stuck to my Blush by 3 Pumpkin Sleek Palette which I've rediscovered in my make up box recently. I used the middle shade called Squash, which is a bright and quite dark pink blush on the apples of my cheeks for that 'flushed' cheeks look.
I finished off this look with a simple pink lip. In case you're expecting any smooches on Valentine's Day I recommend keeping those lips soft and moisturised with a lip balm and I've gone for the Zoella Beauty Kissy Missy Lip Balm for a touch of colour which suits this make up look really well! Don't you think? And you don't want to have that lip look you've worked so hard on gone after a smooch right? ;)
And voila! My make up look is complete ♥

Whether it's Valentine's day or not, I really love this look. It's perfect for a romantic, feminine make up look for any day! Valentine's Day is overrated and lost it's meaning anyway hasn't it? And that's coming from someone who's in a relationship! It's too expensive, it's too commercialised and it's not what it's supposed to be about any more.  If I carry on, I'll write you an essay about why Valentine's Day isn't the same any more. So whatever you're doing for Valentine's Day, have a beautiful day and enjoy yourself! ♥
