What Cat Wore | The Little Black Shirt Dress

Dress - Miss Selfridge // Bag - Primark // Cardigan - River Island // Boots - Sperry Top Sider

Say hello to my new favourite dress! I was always into the 'Utility' trend, and for me it was a style phase I went through in my un-stylish years of 6th form. I basically wore black, white and khaki and it was better if it had a utility element, so combat trousers, multiple pockets or D-Rings.
After seeing that the 'Utility' trend is coming back for SS15 I got pretty excited, and now I can't wait to add some classier and prettier staple utility pieces in my wardrobe and bring back that utility element I loved so much - with this dress being the first.
I kept this outfit simple, because the dress alone is perfect as it is. I love the simple gold detailing, the D-Ring belt and the conventional curved shirt hem keeping it as shirt like as possible the whole way down! The length is a comfortable long (but not too long) length making it okay to wear with some nude tights (even in this cold weather!) and I threw on my new long line draped cardigan to make it just a little bit warmer without hiding the dress too much.
I'm head over heels for this look and I can't wait to wear this dress again, and in so many different ways I can think of too. It works to wear it open and I'm thinking it'll look great with my faux fur gilet too. I actually think I need a denim jacket in my life so I can wear this with that... That sounds like a dream outfit right there.... *sigh* ♥

What are your thoughts on the upcoming Utility trend?

  2. I love you bag! It doesn't look like it's from Primark, it looks more expensive.
