Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede

Boots - £6.99

After lusting for a new, dark purpley lipstick for a while I finally set off to find one. Firstly, I don't know why I wanted one... I guess it was just missing in my lipstick collection. But, I was in Boots when I saw the new Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede lipsticks with a 'Save £2' banner promoting them and bought one in the colour - BACKSTAGE. It wasn't quite the dark purple I was looking for, but it was as close as I was going to find in move in to spring/summer.

At first sight, this is a dark red-purple colour, and has a really nice packaging. It's simple, lightweight and wrapped in the colour of the lipstick. It's easy to use with it's slanted stick, and easy to keep perfect as it hides all the product nicely in the casing. It clicks when the lid is put on so you don't have a problem losing it in your bag and almost ruining your lipstick like I do sometimes. Messy much?
The colour applies nicely, and it looks sexy and sleek once applied. It feels moisturising and definitely sets a suede finish to your lips, matte, but not completely, which I love as I'm not a fan of glossy lipsticks. I also suffer from dry lips, so I need something with moisture, so this moisturising lipstick with a suede type finish seemed perfect.
The one thing I love about this is that it stays put, and unfortunately, this is the only thing I love about it, but not even completely love about it. I've been really disappointed over time, and I've worn this a few times. I've noticed although it stays put, parts of it, especially around the inside of my lips peeled or flaked away as the moisture dried, making my lips feel quite tight. Also, I find myself pursing my lips apart, as it doesn't quite dry completely. It seems to be quite sticky and I keep attempting to moisturise my lips with either lip balm or a reapplication but this doesn't seem to work too well.

I'm wearing it again today, and I keep giving it chance after chance as I really wanted to love it, not too sure why but maybe because I liked the application, the packaging, colours and it staying put for longer than half an hour. Maybe I need something like this with a better moisturising formula. Any suggestions?

Have you tried Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede?

  1. Oh what a shame! I've seen these a few times and they look fab but perhaps I will stay away! For moisturising and colour you want to try susan posnick lipsticks, they're not the easiest to get hold of but oh my god they're just like a lip balm!!

Thank you for your comment on my blog btw :D
